How to use ImageFitNow
Prepare a photo for an upload form, email attachment or website without installing an editor. For a 16:9 crop or padded thumbnail, use the YouTube thumbnail tool.
- Choose an image. Select a JPEG, PNG or WebP file, or drag one into the selection area. This version accepts one image at a time, up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels. Output dimensions are limited to 8,192 pixels per side and 40 megapixels in total.
- Choose dimensions. Enter the width and height of the box you want it to fit into. Keep proportions is on by default, so a 4:3 photo placed inside a 1920 × 1080 box becomes 1440 × 1080.
- Choose an optional limit. Enter the maximum allowed KB or MB. Clear the field to resize without a byte limit. We use decimal units: 1 KB is 1,000 bytes, and 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes. Decimal limits such as 0.5 MB are accepted.
- Choose a format. JPEG is useful for photos; WebP can provide smaller files and transparency; PNG preserves transparency but can be larger.
- Allow dimension reductions if appropriate. If compression alone cannot meet your limit, this option permits a smaller image. Leave it off when your dimensions are mandatory.
- Prepare and review. The tool verifies output dimensions and actual bytes. Check small text, edges, faces and any important detail in the preview.
- Download. Save the new copy. Your original is unchanged. Confirm that the receiving service accepts the format and dimensions.
If something goes wrong
Try a smaller photo, a higher size limit or a different output format. An unsupported format, corrupt file, browser memory limit or unusually large image can prevent processing. Refreshing or clearing the image releases the current session.
